Bakul came into Uppingham Community College to help celebrate the Day of Languages. Our chosen language was Gujarati, which fitted in wonderfully with Bakul’s dishes. I was impressed by the amount of planning that was put into the 4 half hour sessions, and through repeated contact with Bakul prior to the day, had great confidence in the smooth running of the sessions. Rather than repeating the same thing over again, Bakul took the students on a culinary journey throughout the region, with each group doing a different stage of the preparing and cooking. This culminated in a feast at the end which we enjoyed immensely. The students loved the sessions as they got to experience authentic Indian cooking as well as gaining background information on the spices, ingredients and some general knowledge about India in general. They had such a fantastic yet educational time and were rather reluctant to return to their normal lessons afterwards! Many thanks to the Indian Spice School, for providing our students with such a unique experience.
